7 tips for a fun children's Halloween party

Some time ago, a group of evil dentists met in a secret location. There, they hatched a sinister plan: to hold a party where children from all over the world would go door-to-door for a night asking for candy. The plan of these evil dentists was to create problems for careless boys and girls who, being very tired from the party, would forget to brush their teeth. Those terrible elephant cavities that would ruin their parents' finances. OWL HA HA HA! Shivers… And many... but hey, we're just a few days away from Halloween, a holiday of Anglo-Saxon origin that's increasingly permeating our culture. And that's normal, because it's a fun holiday, and we love to have fun. I offer you 7 simple tips to make Halloween a fun party for children, where we can all have a blast:

#1. The costume

First things first, who doesn't love dressing up and putting on makeup? Being someone else and taking on a different role is fun, which is why kids love dressing up. If you have imagination and are good at making things with your hands, you'll have no problem making a Halloween costume with things you find around the house. Here are some simple ideas that can get you out of a bind: But if it happens to you like it does to me and instead of having hands you have two left feet, the best thing to do is buy a costume . If you buy it carefully, you can also use it for carnival, birthdays, or whenever your child wants to dress up (it's always good to have a small trunk of costumes for the little ones). Capes are ideal, as they're not too cumbersome and allow you to create various themes. This one of Little Red Riding Hood in velvet is one of my favorites without a doubt, but we can't leave out the "fearsome" dragon . You can see many more costumes in our children's costumes section.

#2. Makeup

We already told you in another post ( how (not) to make your child look like the ecce homo ) some tips when it comes to makeup. Above all, please be careful: children's skin is very sensitive, and makeup can cause reactions: Use quality makeup that's dermatologically tested and allergen-free. Safe brands include PlayColor , Snazaroo , and Djeco . I'll summarize how to choose makeup in a diagram: But please never use titanlux!

#3. Now for the “sweets”

Leaving aside our little ones' oral health, a Halloween worth its salt calls for candy, chocolate, and sweets. It's a perfect occasion to get the whole family in the kitchen and unleash our inner chef. We've already told you how rewarding it is to cook with the little ones. There are a lot of recipes that you can make, I leave you a couple of them from guiainfantil : Another very convenient option is the candy, marshmallow , caramel , and chocolate kits , which already include all the accessories, flavorings, molds, pipettes, etc., to make our own sweets. You can check out our store for a selection of kits to make your own sweets.

#4. Create atmosphere

We've got everything ready—the costumes, the candy, and soon all the guests will be arriving for the Halloween party. Now we need to organize some games and activities for our spooky guests. The fear of the dark is inherent, with the Ghost Hour Guard Lantern you can create a very Halloween atmosphere by projecting a tarantula, ghost, or bat onto the ceiling. Plus, since it comes with a scary poster, it's perfect for decoration, and since the other side is a flashlight, you can use it for dark play and shadow puppet theater.

#5. Play and have fun

Shadow puppets are a great way to create a Halloween atmosphere, and if they're monstrous like these from Mudpuppy , even better. Organize some typical Halloween games:
  • The Mummy:
    • Groups are formed, and each group is given a roll of toilet paper. The group that creates the scariest mummy in the shortest amount of time (e.g., a song) wins.
  • Ghostbusters:
    • The ghost hunter carries a flashlight; the rest of us are ghosts, and we sit very still and quiet in a dark room. The ghost hunter quickly flicks the flashlight on and off in one direction and has to call out the name of the ghost they've found. The stealthiest and most difficult-to-catch ghost wins.
  • Vampire, ghost:
    • Like the sneaker from behind, but saying ghost, ghost as he touches his classmates' heads until he says "Vampire!" and whoever he touches has to get up and grab him before he reaches his seat.
We can also play skeleton matching with Bogoss , feed the greedy monsters , help with the monsters' cakes , find the sock monster 's pairs, or visit the haunted spookie house.

#6. Relax to end the party

After the sugar rush and all the excitement, it's time to get the kids off the lamp and do something a little more relaxing. A storyteller can be a great option, and of course, we'll read a story... about monsters! You probably already have some of these stories, but if you want to update them or include a new one, there are a couple of classics you can't miss:

Where the Wild Things Are

Camuñas

When a monster is born

or perhaps other monsters that teach us about diversity like the pink monster

#7. Don't forget to give yourself a reward

The guests have left, the kids are sound asleep... now it's time to give yourself a treat, you've more than earned it, so make yourself a bowl of popcorn, put the leftover candy next to you, curl up on the couch with a blanket and put on some 90s B-movie horror (they'll always be the best) and enjoy Halloween too!!
