Learn how to cook with children at home: an enriching experience

Children start getting excited about cooking from a very young age. We all know how much time is spent in the kitchen when you have several children at home. They see you, are curious, and want to know. They're naturally always willing to help, and there's nothing more fun than getting your hands dirty helping Mom or Dad prepare a delicious meal.
But we don't always let them help us. Sometimes it's because they might get dirty, other times because they might hurt themselves. You just need to prepare the cooking area a little with a little common sense, so they can participate too and you can have a good time.
Touching raw foods, making cake batter, or even washing dishes is a very fun activity, one from which you learn a lot, and it helps them understand where things come from.
Muffins aren't always bought pre-made, steaks aren't cooked from the market, and vegetables come in many different colors and shapes.
They learn to eat healthy, it helps them use their memory to recall their favorite recipes and the order in which they prepare them, it encourages planned work, and they spend quality time with their elders, making them feel like equals.
When the preparation is finished and it's time to eat, they also feel responsible for the food they have prepared.
We suggest you check out the Seedling apron, which can help make kitchen stains a little more bearable.
This apron is designed for children to decorate however they like. It's made of natural, undyed cotton and has three spacious pockets to carry all kinds of utensils. How about making a delicious chocolate nougat? A fun time is guaranteed!
Recipe : chocolate-and-puffed-rice-turron-2_1230_0
  • 50 grams of Iberian pork lard
  • 60 grams of chocolate puffed rice cereal
  • 125 grams of dark chocolate
  • 150 grams of milk chocolate.
Preparation :
  1. We chop the chocolates and put them in a bowl along with the lard.
  2. For the older ones, we put it in the microwave at full power for a couple of minutes.
  3. We take it out of the microwave and (be careful, it's hot!) we stir it well until we have a homogeneous chocolate paste.
  4. We add the rice cereals and mix it.
  5. Finally, pour this mixture into a container (a Tupperware or a milk carton cut in half) and place it in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Once it's clean, we take it out of the fridge, remove it from the mold, and... enjoy!
