Assembling and enjoying these charming and unique Ugears wooden models has become a popular hobby for thousands of people across five continents. Now you can combine your love of scuba diving with model building with this Ugears model.

With its original theme, this wooden model is not only an attractive addition to our Ugears catalog but also offers a unique mechanical action. The aquarium fish and algae rotate simultaneously and in parallel, at different speeds and in different directions, simulating the gentle, undulating rhythms of underwater flora and fauna. By moving their heads and tails from side to side, the fish appear to actually swim! While many other Ugears models are powered by rubber band motors, this model's unique feature is that it is spring-driven, prolonging the action and increasing its lifespan. Ugears prides itself on innovation and listening to the public, and many people have requested models with spring-driven mechanisms. Therefore, they are especially proud to present this spring-driven aquarium—the first in our growing catalog of Ugears models!

To activate the model, wind the key under the aquarium (about 25 half-turns), move the button from "STOP" to "SWIM," and then watch your mechanical aquarium come to life! The mechanism includes an internal pendulum to regulate and smooth the motion. This model has been designed to be the definition of operational simplicity for the operator: one button and two operating modes: ON and OFF. You can let it spin for approximately 40 seconds and enjoy the movements of the robotic fish and seaweed, or stop it at any time.

Did you know that the Romans and Aztecs already had rudimentary saltwater aquariums? (Those of the Aztecs were far more ostentatious.) In 1846, marine zoologist Anna Thynne created and maintained for three years the first ecologically balanced saltwater aquarium. It was the inspiration for the London Zoo's Fish House, which opened seven years later. But it would take another hundred years or so until, in the 1950s, saltwater aquariums really began to take off as a personal hobby. Due to the need to regularly fill the tank with seawater, most early hobbyists lived near the sea. Saltwater fish tanks always required the aquarist to purchase a range of equipment, including filtration, aeration, and lighting systems that were quite expensive and time-consuming to maintain. Over time, the aesthetics and technologies associated with saltwater aquariums have progressed. Dead corals gave way to living rock and coral species, improved water quality and temperature monitoring systems, captive breeding and commercial coral propagation reduced the need to harvest these species in vulnerable marine environments, and increased knowledge of the interconnections between different species.

Not everyone is able to afford the challenges and expense of setting up and maintaining a saltwater aquarium. Even today, a basic beginner's aquarium requires a substantial and ongoing investment of time and resources.

However, with this Mechanical Aquarium, you can immerse yourself in the fascinating underwater world with an attractive and whimsical wooden model that you can assemble yourself and then proudly display. Once assembled, family and friends will enjoy hours of fun watching the robotic fish swim around the wooden tank with realistic swimming movements, while the occasional secretive seahorse appears among the kelp forest. And best of all: You'll never need to change the water again!

At Ugears, they constantly strive to create beautiful designs with surprising mechanical action for everyone's enjoyment and delight. They always include a special detail in their models, and in this model's case, it's the seahorse, hidden in the center of the kelp forest.

Part of their philosophy is to bring people together—especially from different generations—as they build or play with their mechanical wonders. Make the Mechanical Aquarium your next family project!

UGEARS creates attractive and imaginative mechanical models made of wood that move independently and can be assembled without glue.

Their designs are inspired by real-life mechanisms and demonstrate their love of art and ingenuity. At UGEARS, they believe that building these beautiful models should also be fun, and they dedicate their expertise to the field of engineering.

The meticulous testing and quality control of their products have a single objective: to ensure that their models provide a captivating and rewarding experience for the whole family.
