UGears -Horse Mechanoid, wooden 3D kit

For Ugears, one of the main challenges was to make a truly four-footed horse. In the many previously designed mechanisms, the stability of such moving constructions had been achieved by additional limbs or other extra supports, but Ugears' engineers found a more elegant way to achieve stability in motion. They created and developed a totally innovative and absolutely one-of-a-kind mechanism.

Special attention was paid to the anatomy of the legs, to ensure that all joints and movements were as close as possible to those of a real horse, and so the engineers implemented a claw mechanism for its movement.

The mechanical heart is a pendulum attached to the horse's chest: the oscillations of the pendulum slow down the transmission of power from the rubber motor to the moving parts, thus extending the operating time of the mechanism.

Although you won't get very far on an adventure with this horse, you will be able to observe the functioning of the extraordinary mechanism and enjoy the magnificent mechanics of this model.

On the one hand, the horse's mane and tail, which must dance in the wind, are made of rubber bands. In this way, the horse shakes its head and swings its soft mane as it walks.

This horse is a tribute to the first automatons, to the attempts to create a walking machine in Ancient Greece, to inventors in Japan and China, and to Leonardo da Vinci himself.
