Discover how GreenToys eco-friendly toys are made.

You know we don't have just any kind of toys. Instead, we've carefully selected the ones we liked the most, the ones we've touched, tried, and found convincing. Those with a beautiful story behind them are the ones that catch our attention. We especially like responsible toys. Today we want to explain why we chose GreenToys and why we make them available to you. Do you know how they do it?

Safety of your products

All products from this manufacturer are tested by independent laboratories from nationally recognized companies in the USA. This way, they certify that their products do not contain phthalates or Bisphenol A (BPA). They are specifically designed without painted coatings, to eliminate the problem of lead-based paint. All of their products have passed a number of demanding tests, including:
  • International standard EN71, and ISO 8124
  • CPSIA (Consumer Safety Improvement Act)
  • FDA authorization for products in contact with food
  • ASTM F963 (Consumer Products Safety Standard Specification)
  • Proposition 65 (California law regulating the use of lead and cadmium in consumer products)

Simple ideas

The main ingredient used in the creation of these toys is recycled milk bottles. Yes, the exact same milk bottles you use every day. When the bottle is finished and you put it in the yellow bin, it's separated from other types of plastic, collected, and processed by a recycling company. The next step is to reprocess these bottles and turn them into super-clean, fresh plastic. For plastic geeks, this plastic material is called High-Density Polyethylene, or HDPE. This material is considered one of the cleanest and safest plastics available today.

Environmentally friendly packaging

Their mission to protect the environment extends to the packaging they use. Studies are conducted to minimize the use of packaging as much as possible. All their products are packaged in corrugated cardboard boxes, free of plastic, cellophane, or wire, and are 100% recyclable. Non-toxic inks are used to print the text on the packaging. This way, they are not only environmentally friendly but also easy to open for little hands eager to start using the toy inside.

Carbon footprint reduction

GreenToys is a California-based company from the United States of America. The milk bottles used as raw materials for their toys are collected exclusively within the state, specifically to reduce the carbon footprint of these fantastic toys.

Results:

On average, every half kilo of recycled plastic used in these toys saves energy equivalent to:
  • 3000 AAA size batteries, or
  • The energy consumed by a television for 3 weeks in a row, or
  • The amount of electricity needed to keep a laptop running for a month.
Clearly, these products are not only responsible toys, but they are also well-designed and made for play. For example: You only have to see the airplane up close to want to get your hands on it as soon as possible. And if the airplane doesn't convince you, you can check out the beach bucket, rake, and shovel game Play in the Sand . Now that you know how they make it, could you say the same about toys from neighborhood stores run by Asians?
