Today we're going to review how to play
Labyrinthix , a very simple game of observation and speed from
Djeco that invites you to take a mental journey around a map. Speed, accurate thinking, and lightning-fast action are the keys to winning. This game of reflexes is sure to be a heated, but very, very fun time.

The practical cardboard box contains the game materials, consisting of a deck of cards, four sturdy, easy-to-grip colorful totems, and an instruction manual in 10 languages. The game was created by Cédric Martinez and is ideal for children ages 8 and up due to the quick reflexes required to win.

This game enhances visual agility, concentration, and reflex speed. It also improves immediate memory and manual dexterity.
Preparations:
Place the four totems in the center of the table, leaving a wide space between them to place the playing card. Shuffle and place the deck to one side, with the labyrinth back face down.
How do you play?
The goal is to be the first to win 7 cards. The game begins by turning over the top card of the deck and placing it among the totems.

All players will focus on the red arrow and mentally map out where the last arrow points. Now, depending on the face of the top card in the deck, a different action must be taken:
-
If the front of the top card in the deck is "totems," try to pick the totem that is in the direction the last arrow on the card is pointing, regardless of the color of the playing card's border.
-
If the front of the top card in the deck is "colors," you must try to pick up the totem of the color on the edge where the last arrow on the playing card points.
I'm sure these examples make it clearer. Playing with the "totems" card deck:

And with the same playing card, playing "colors":

If you guessed correctly and picked the correct totem, you win the game card and place it in your spot.
What happens if more than one player grabs the correct totem at a time? Since we're intelligent beings and don't want to argue too much (right?), we can say that whoever grabbed the totem from the bottom gets it. ;-)
WARNING! There are 3 cards that have no exit if you continue along the maze, so in that case, the first person to say "Totem!" out loud wins the game card.
When does the game end?
The original instructions state that the first to win 7 cards is the winner. In my humble opinion and based on my experience, since this is a very fast-paced game, it "gets heated" very quickly, and it could be stretched out to, for example, finishing the entire deck, with the winner being the one who collects the most cards. Or, with another variation, if a player picks up a totem and misses the draw, they must leave one of their cards in the deck as a penalty.
Did you enjoy this game? I've enjoyed it since the first time we played it at home, although the speed of the game can lead to heated arguments... :-)
