Thursday Games: Mosquito

In the last few posts, we introduced you to My First Treasure of Games by HABA, but after a few weeks of talking about the different games it includes, it's time to talk about other games. Later, we'll return to the other five treasure games we're missing. This week we're going to take an in-depth look at a fun board game, suitable only for the fastest and most reflexive players in the house. It's Mosquito , from the Djeco brand. Inside the box, we'll find 48 action cards, 25 score cards, and the 7 adorable figures that will be part of the game at all times: an apple, a flower, 4 bees, and a... why is this game called that? Oh, yes! And a mosquito! These are the stars of this highly entertaining game of observation and quick reflexes. 5 to 99 years 2 to 4 players 15 minutes

This game enhances short-term memory and shape and color recognition. You'll quickly notice how your reflexes fade over time. I haven't won even once at home!
Preparations:
Place the apple, the mosquito, and the flower in a line in the center of the table. Deal a bee and a scoring card (the ladybugs) to each player. Shuffle the action cards and deal them among all the players. Each player must place all the cards in a pile and place them face down, without looking at them. Make a pot of ladybug tokens, which are the points to be played in the game. How do you play? The objective of the game is to collect the most ladybugs. You win these by correctly matching the action shown on the cards. Be careful! If you dare to play quickly without thinking much, you can lose the ladybugs, so play your cards well. On the count of three, all players take the top card from their deck and place it face up. If two or more players draw the same card, they (and only they) will be the ones who can participate in the battle to obtain the piece most quickly.
  • If the mosquitoes match, the first person to squash the mosquito in the center of the table wins a ladybug.
  • If the bees match, the first person to pick up their own bee and place it on the flower in the center of the table will win a ladybug.
  • If the apples match, all players play at the same time and the first to grab it will win a ladybug.
  • If one of the players who did NOT have the repeated card plays his trick and either moves his bee, takes the apple or squashes the mosquito, he loses a ladybug token and gives it to the pot.
When does the game end? Once the deck of action cards is exhausted, the ladybugs are counted, and the one who was the fastest and had the best reflexes of the rest, WINS!! Did you enjoy this game? You can buy it right here .
