The mother penguins and their babies have to cross the river to eat the delicious fish waiting on the other side, but the baby penguins don't know how to swim yet, so their mothers will have to help them cross over the logs, stones, and sticks that stick out.
You can start with free play, where children discover the different pieces and details of the play area on their own, counting the number of jumps they have to take to reach the other side, where there is a turtle, etc.
The penguins and their mothers leave their nests. If the dice show small footprints, the baby penguins jump the number of footprints indicated. If the footprints are large, the mother penguin and her baby jump. The first pair of mother and baby penguins to reach the other side eat the fish and win.
Through play, social bonds are established and children learn how to win as well as how to lose. We need to teach children how to cope with success and failure to prepare them for life's ups and downs.
