More information

Speaking of extras, the Manipulator itself comes with two sections of rails, a ship under construction, two transport crates with doors, a crane, a freight car, and five figurines.

The Manipulator is a mechanical claw with three levers, resting on a platform mounted on rails. The rail sections can be placed parallel or in a row. The stage is completed with a pseudo-metallic warehouse under construction composed of enormous trusses straight from the industrial age, along with one of the characters, the roofer, with his hammer perched on a beam of the warehouse. A worker with hand signals helps the Manipulator operator control the maneuver. Meanwhile, the other two workers, one with a shovel and the other with a wrench, concentrate on the work on the dock.

The model also includes one of the dock's most important pieces of equipment: the crane. It can be disassembled and reassembled with almost a simple gesture of the hand. Additional mechanisms allow the crane to be locked in rotation and tilt, even when loaded.

There's another important element in the scene: the freight car with folding sides. Load and unload its transport crates along with the dismantled crane and move everything to another location.

All parts of the model are made of high-quality plywood and do not require any other materials or tools for assembly.

How does the Manipulator work?

The gripper rests on a platform that rotates manually or via an actuator. The operator's cab, equipped with a protective roof and adjustable headlights, is located at the front of the model. Rotating the cab counterclockwise changes the manipulator's operating mode:

- Initial position (translation mode): the rotating platform of the claw is locked and the model moves on the rails.

- 90 degree turn (free mode): the turntable is unlocked.

- 180-degree turn (loading mode): the model's wheels and the front axle gear that fits onto the edge of the rails are locked.

The rear of the model houses the lever for raising, lowering, and locking the four support legs, which reinforce the stability of the machine during the maneuver of the claw.

With its articulated claw, the Ugears Manipulator can load and move transport crates in the Wagon with extraordinary precision (up to 1 cm). Based on original prototypes, the Manipulator teaches you the operational and construction features of real-life machines, such as cranes, excavators, robotic arms, and more, as well as their mechanics and functionality.

Overall, the Manipulator offers many possibilities: as a model that's exciting to build, and as a faithful playmate thanks to its diverse functions. All this, without forgetting the educational value provided by its superb mechanics based on real-life designs. And for even more fun with the Manipulator, you can always attach it to the docking point of other models in the Ugears collection.

UGEARS creates attractive and imaginative mechanical models made of wood that move independently and can be assembled without glue.
