The UGears gearbox is an excellent kit in the STEM-Lab series. Its main advantage is, of course, that its purpose is very obvious. It is a 4-speed manual gearbox that forms part of a car's transmission mechanism. The role of a gearbox is to transfer torque from the engine shaft to the wheels of the vehicle.

The model of the gearbox consists of the following parts: gear shift lever, transmission shaft with couplings, reverse bearing, transmission shaft and drive lever. The four gears that appear on this model are I, II, III, and Reverse, with III being the fastest and the idle one that allows both gears to remain disengaged from the clutch. Clockwise rotation of the actuator handle turns the drive shaft. You can manually select the speed and observe the rotation. Shifting to reverse will cause the camshaft and all gears to rotate in the opposite direction.
One of the main innovative features of the UGears STEM-lab series is the augmented reality (AR) feature. To activate it, simply download the STEM Lab application to your phone and tablet and then point it at the newly assembled assembly. The application will reveal all the ways in which the mechanism is used in real life.
Each box of UGears STEM-lab contains a Pocket Model Study Guide, a colourful and detailed Manual, wooden boards with pre-cut puzzle pieces and additional materials such as rubber bands. All sets are made of high quality plywood and do not require the use of anything else that is not included in the box.
